As of January 2015, Facebook will be making some changes to the type of content people will see in their News Feeds. Facebook surveyed hundreds of thousands of users and an overwhelming number of them want to see less promotional content. What traits make it too promotional?
- Posts that solely target people to buy a product or install an app
- Posts that urge people to enter promotions and sweepstakes
- Posts that recite the same content from their ads.
In the past, controls haven’t been closely monitored for promotional posts. That will change with new content controls for these posts to ensure users see more of what they want and less of the sales pitches.
